HOW DO I START
This program is open to all service members, spouses, and veterans. To begin the process you will need to contact an Employment Coach from the Joint Transition Assistance Program in your area. If you cannot find one in your area you may contact one of the Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER). These coaches will guide you through the process of preparing for your next challenging career. We have develop a sequence for you to follow that we believe will help you to obtain your goals.
Step 1: Contact Joint Transition Assistance Coaches or Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) in your area and make an appointment for your initial assistance visit. Here is the Contact Information for someone located in your area.
Step 2: Complete the Employment Assistance Service Agreement prior to your visit with your employment coach. The intent of this form is to begin the process and better prepare you for the process of looking for employment and to help assist your coach on evaluating your process in your job search. It is also and agreement between you and your coach on the responsibilities and commitments of obtaining employment using the JTAP. You should attempt to complete all the tasks prior to your next meeting with your coach.
Step 3: Do some research on the type of career that interests you, the employment outlook for that career and the companies that you may want to work for.
Step 4: Meet with your coach and have your coach review your progress and assist you with any additional assistance that you may need. Your coach is there to make you successful and aide you with the search for employment. Once you have completed the tasks on the agreement, your coach will be contacting you either by phone or email when jobs from military friendly employers that fit your interest and qualifications.
